Turmeric – Ground
Premium turmeric from Cambodia
Our turmeric comes from southern Cambodia, where it is grown under natural conditions without chemical fertilisers. After harvesting, the rhizome is gently processed and ground into a fine powder to preserve its valuable compounds and its characteristic warm, spicy taste.
Natural power and versatile use
Turmeric has been valued for centuries in Indian Ayurveda and Chinese medicine for its anti-inflammatory and cleansing properties. Its intense yellow colour and spicy aroma make it ideal for refining rice dishes, soups and sauces. Perfect also for curries and golden milk.
Quality and sustainability
Our turmeric products stand for the highest purity and quality. Sustainable cultivation and careful processing guarantee an unadulterated taste experience and promote fair working conditions on site.
Fine. Refined. Fair. – PeppCorn for conscious enjoyment.
Turmeric from Cambodia – not from mass production
Most turmeric on the market comes from industrial large-scale cultivation in India. Ours grows in southern Cambodia, on family farms around our partner farm – without chemical fertilisers, harvested by hand and gently ground. You see it the moment you open the pack: a deep, glowing yellow instead of pale ochre.
Why turmeric and pepper belong together
An old kitchen principle from the Ayurvedic tradition: turmeric is almost never used alone. The piperine in black pepper significantly improves the body's absorption of curcumin. That is why every golden milk needs a pinch of freshly ground Kampot pepper – and why it simply tastes better with good pepper.
How to use turmeric
- Golden milk: 1 tsp per 400 ml milk or plant-based drink – to the recipe
- Curry and rice: adds colour and earthy depth, pairs with our Khmer curry
- Soups and stews: half a teaspoon is enough for four servings
- Roasted vegetables: mixed with oil over cauliflower or pumpkin
Frequently asked questions about turmeric
How do I use turmeric powder correctly?
Always with a little fat and a pinch of black pepper – this is how colour and aroma unfold best. Briefly toast it rather than just sprinkling it in: that removes the slightly bitter note.
How is turmeric from Cambodia different?
Smaller harvests, no chemicals, shorter distances between harvest and grinding. The result is a noticeably more intense aroma and a stronger colour than standard produce.
How do I store turmeric?
Cool, dry and dark in the resealable packaging. Light bleaches the colour and costs aroma.
Does turmeric stain?
Yes, very strongly – on textiles and worktops. One reason it was traditionally used as a dye. Best to avoid plastic chopping boards.
